DESCRIPTION:    Maggie Glasgow – Greenville Women Giving\, Greenville\, SC    \n“I love seeing women come together\, share knowledge and resources\, open up leadership opportunities\, and make informed decisions to give back and grow their communities.” \nMaggie serves as Immediate Past Co-Chair of Philanos. She is a past co-chair for Greenville Women Giving (Greenville\, SC). She served as a board member for 13 years\, and as a co-chair for four years.  She also served as chair of the education\, strategic planning\, and leadership development committees. Prior to retiring and moving to Greenville\, Maggie was an academic sociologist\, teaching at Bluefield College in Bluefield\, Virginia for over a decade\, retiring as chair of the Social Science Division. \nMaggie has a BA in journalism from the University of North Dakota\, BA in Sociology from Florida Atlantic University\, MA and PhD in Sociology from Duke University.  She brings her love of research\, data analysis\, writing\, advocating for women and leadership development to this work. \nMaggie lives with her husband Lowrie in Greenville where they enjoy reading\, traveling\, and gardening as well as time with their three children and seven adorable grandchildren.

DESCRIPTION:Brittney Burnett\, United Way President\, will be presenting on “Alice” Asset Limited\, Income Constrained\, Employed and represents the growing number of working families who struggle to afford the basics of housing\, childcare\, food\, transportation\, healthcare and technology.  \nALICE may also be a teacher\, health care provider\, retail clerk\,\nsanitation worker\, and other members of our essential workforce. These working families are in parts of every community\nnationwide. \n \nALICE households include: \n All races\, ages\, ethnicities\, and abilities\, though disproportionately in households of color.\n Family members who need care and assistance\, which makes it harder for caregivers to find adequate work.\n Workers are living paycheck to paycheck and are forced to make impossible choices such as pay the rent or buy food\,\nreceive medical care or pay for childcare\, pay utility bills or put gas in the car.
