Welcome

Women in Philanthropy is a charitable organization of over 100 women in the Central Savannah River Area of Georgia and South Carolina who are committed to a philanthropic effort focused on the unique needs of women within the local communities. Each year at our Annual Meeting grants are awarded to non-profit programs and projects that have the potential for high impact, resulting in significant positive change in the lives of women and girls in Aiken, Burke, Columbia, McDuffie or Richmond Counties.

As members of WIP, we all recognize that there are tremendous needs in our communities. However, through our work, we have been collectively struck by the enormity of those needs. The funds requested by our 2009 grant applicants totaled in excess of one million dollars. Of those requests, Women in Philanthropy awarded $60,000, representing 60% of the total collected from members during our inaugural year. In 2010, WIP is pleased to award $74,900 to four area non-profit organizations while still maintaining an endowment fund for future growth.

While this is a great start, the more women who realize the significant work of WIP, the greater our impact will be. If you're not already a member, please consider joining us in our effort to better the lives of women, families, and our communities throughout the CSRA.
